Destination Wedding Umbria, Castle of Rosciano

Civil ceremony and reception hosted in the garden of the Castle of Rosciano, Umbria, Italy.

Monica and Matthew, a love blossomed in London and celebrated in one of the most suggestive and elegant locations in central Italy: the Castle of Rosciano, Umbria. The newlyweds from overseas have chosen us at INESSE Handmade Photography to photograph their Italian-English destination wedding. Everything, from the preparation to the final dances, took place in the period house.

The bride got ready in the suite, a small but refined room overlooking the Castle garden. Matthew toasted with his friends in one of the medieval rooms on the ground floor before reaching, together with his mother and all the guests, the place of the ceremony. Waiting for Monica at the end of the charming stone staircase was her father. Full of pride and emotion, he was waiting for his daughter to deliver her the bouquet before the official start of the ceremony.

Emotional statements, tears and smiles accompanied the civil ceremony celebrated both in English and in Italian. To bring the wedding rings an exceptional bridesmaid: Monica’s grandmother. A sweet and intense moment, which also granted us recognition by the prestigious WPJA, Wedding Photojournalism Association.

After the throwing of the petals we took a walk and a few shots of the couple before reaching the guests for an aperitif. Like the English tradition, the speeches entertained and moved the guests throughout dinner.

The dances began during the second course of the meal, friends and relatives poured into the dances to the sound of rock and swing. A short but suggestive break for the cake cut surrounded by bright stars to then go back to the dancefloor, without heels and with unbuttoned ties, under the clear sky of a warm and pleasant June night.

Handmade Photography did an absolutely wonderful job for us – outstanding, really. You can fully trust their taste and their eye for a beautiful wedding day album that will steer clear of all the cheesiness you see around, especially with Italian photographers (I am Italian – trust me on this one). Their pictures are beautiful, modern and very luminous. They really managed to capture so many special, intimate moments, in the most absolute discretion (you barely notice they’re there, oftentimes you don’t notice at all!).
Other than their outstanding technical skills, the booking process has also been extremely easy and straightforward, even with us being based abroad. Contract is signed quickly online (note many suppliers in Italy will not even do a contract, so having a clear price on a piece of paper really is extra piece of mind!), they are very easily available for any questions on mobile or email.
Honestly, I wouldn’t consider anybody else for my wedding day, I had so much peace of mind working with these guys (and trust me, you will need it on the day!!). Just last week we received our wedding album and absolutely everybody is sending the compliments in on how beautiful the pictures are!!
